Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumFor my 10,000th post I want to do it here
In my safe space!
I've been a member of DU since February 2001
I was 34 years old with a 3 year old and 1 year old daughter
I was happily married to what would turn out to be my first wife
I was Mr. Stuckinthebush as a moniker which reflected my disgust of what happened during the Bush v Gore horror.
15 years, 10,000 posts, daily visits to DU
Gore, Dean, Kerry, Clinton, Obama....been there for them all
I've seen many members pass away. There was one named Kephra who kept the Articles forum filled. I liked Kephra. He was a gem. He died young.
I met on DU what turned out to be a distant cousin with my same name and we still talk via Facebook
Now I am almost 50 years old with a college student, a junior in high school, and an 8th grade daughter
I have a wonderful second wife and stepmother of my girls who carried me through rough times
I am now Dr Stuckinthebush
I love DU and all of you. I will keep coming daily and will support President Hillary Clinton for the next 8 years!
Bless you all and let's celebrate my 10,000, and better yet, a Clinton win tonight!

(833 posts)These days, there are tons of members who has 5 digits posts. However, yours is special.
Yes, when I first found DU, I did not have a daughter. When was my first post?? I think I decided to look for a place like then here after seeing too many American went nuts because of 9-11.
Then, Earl actually has a off-meeting and my husband and I felt not 'cool' enough to meet them in person. However, during 8 years Bush period, coming to DU was really like a group therapy.
Things changed first through the primary season between Clinton and Obama. I had nothing against Obama and quite frankly Obama's policies are very similar to Clinton's. And, for the record, Obama's voting records were 1 point less liberal than Clinton's. ( BTW, Clinton's voting records coincide with Sanders about 93% of time. )
Those things did not matter. Obama supporters became so nasty. That's when I quit DU.
Thanks to DU, my membership records were not eliminated.
Well, I thought Obama supporter was so vindictive of Clinton. They were tame compared to Sander's supporter.
Earlier, I had a lot of respect for Sanders and his supporters. He was focusing on changing the political
paradigm in Democrats to the left. I welcomed it since I know Clinton is core belief is more left than she has to realize over the years.
It is always much easier to repeat ideals when you don't really try to make changes.
My husband and I have been Clinton supporters for two reasons, one they are most competent policy makers of post war world and two, they are the only ones who can out-maneuver Republicans.
I am not old enough to be a member of AARP though I am a working mother with a 13 year-old girl who has special needs. I survived a lot. I lost my mother last year but I got reconnected with my sisters in Japan.
I got a new hope that Hillary may win this time.

(3,825 posts)We have traveled this exciting and often bumpy road here on our DU. I came aboard in April 2001 and remember Khepera well. The flying fingers of Breaking News. His was the first post I saw on 9/11. What memories we have and will continue to make. Let's make this happen.

(10,845 posts)He was a friend. Long time ago!
Back then there were so few of us that we were a tad more civil. I remember in 2001 or 2002 we all posted our pictures in the lounge. Different times.

(15,863 posts)(I could Message, of course, but as you're here...) Tamara was wondering if Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Montgomery have had the same problem getting any kind of concerts (I mean, besides Trans-Siberian Express) as Columbia had during the Confederate flag era. Heart of Dixie and all that. I'm guessing yes on Montgomery, no on Birmingham.

(213 posts)I probably won't live long enough to post 10,000 times, plus I'm more of a reader and an appreciater. Already 70+, but still young at heart (I think). A 3-time retiree as a high school guidance counselor- I keep getting called back when someone leaves unexpectedly.
But... I LOVE this group. Keeps me sane. As you can imagine, I love people's stories, and your's is an inspiring one.
Thanks for telling your is about your life. And again, congratulations!
