Hillary Clinton’s push on gun control marks a shift in presidential politics-HRC ROOM

HILLARY CLINTON ROOM

Philip Rucker

In her standard stump speech, Hillary Rodham Clinton talks about fighting income inequality, celebrating court rulings on gay marriage and health care, and, since the Emanuel AME Church massacre, toughening the nation’s gun laws.

That last component marks an important evolution in presidential politics. For at least the past several decades, Democrats seeking national office have often been timid on the issue of guns for fear of alienating firearms owners. In 2008, after Barack Obama took heat for his gaffe about people who “cling to guns or religion,” he rarely mentioned guns again — neither that year nor in his 2012 reelection campaign.

To call out the blatant truth, this very ugly mark on American society.
She does the same with LGBT, African Americans, Hispanics, all Immigrants, Women & their sons & daughters, health, education & wealth inequalities, & voter rights, among the many human rights issues that have been flat out ignored by leaders & policy makers before her.

This is Hillary Clinton.

All things considered, Sanders really hasn't said word one about sensible gun control or, for that matter, many of the other major issues in our country today. He gives good rah-rah speeches in front of curiosity seekers, but he does exactly what Clinton is criticized for doing - speaking about things without saying specifically what he's going to do about them and how he'll do it.

In all fairness, during public appearances at this point of the campaign, it's almost impossible to get into details. But that's the case for BOTH candidates.

So, Sanders followers, STOP the idiotic criticism and comments!

3. Not here to dump on HRC, but, to correct Rucker's incorrect statement calling it a 'shift' for Dems

Rucker is wrong about the 'shift'….Kerry highlighted his record on gun control.

Common sense gun control was included in Kerry's campaign, and, he absolutely did NOT shy away from it when he held a press availability in Iowa. Instead, he HIGHLIGHTED it as a responsible gun owner.

>>>>
Mr. Kerry proved quite the shot. Moments later, he leveled his gun suddenly and squeezed his trigger once more, and another pheasant fell to the ground, this time with an appreciative pack of journalists witnessing the kill.

Bizarre as the juxtaposition seemed, Mr. Kerry said his gun control stance and his marksmanship were quite compatible.

''It's not a mixed message,'' he said. ''I'm just being where I've been all my life.''

''I believe in the Second Amendment in this country,'' Mr. Kerry continued. ''But I don't believe that assault weapons ought to be sold in the streets of America. Never believed it, don't believe it now.''

That was one of the great things in his campaign. That's where my ideology & Senator Kerry's were spot on.

.. no one is coming to take their guns away.

"A few days earlier, she said in Hanover, N.H.: “We have to take on the gun lobby. .?.?. This is a controversial issue. I am well aware of that. But I think it is the height of irresponsibility not to talk about it.”

She has Wayne LaPierre threatening her.. so she's doing something right...

As per the link.. "... but gun control is an issue on which Hillary Rodham Clinton has a more progressive record."

Thank you, Hillary.. mahalo Justin
