http://bluenationreview.com/bernie-has-spent-91-million-on-ads-and-consultants-50-more-than-hillary/The Washington Post has published an analysis of FEC reports on the immense amounts of cash flowing into the Sanders campaign and flowing right back out.
According to the Washington Post, Bernies campaign has spent $91 million on media buys and consulting; and unlike Hillary, they didnt cap commissions for his consultants because they didnt expect his campaign to take off.
In contrast, Hillarys campaign has spent close to $62 million, 50 percent less.
Even though Bernie has laid off hundreds of his staffers and has virtually no chance of winning the nomination, he is still asking his supporters to donate. He says hell keep going until the California primary.
The irony is that despite the mind-boggling amounts of cash spent against her, Hillary is still winning.
There might be some kind of lesson there.
Why are supporters are still giving money.....????

(1,359 posts)...and they mentioned that Sanders and his team poll-tested all of his positions to determine which policies had the most support from Millennials. He was targeting young voters from the beginning, which makes the subsequent cash scam all the more insidious.
Sanders planned to screw over young voters the whole time, and it's been his consistent operation from Day One.

(4,787 posts)that was their prime target, on the young end of the 'millennials'. You know, people who were more likely than not to lack experience with political campaigns/politicians. Or frankly, the government process in the US.
About as cynical as it comes.

The large profits stem in part from the fact that no one in Sanderss campaign imagined he would generate such enormous financial support. So unlike Clinton, he did not cap how much his consultants could earn in commissions from what was expected to be a bare-bones operation, according to campaign officials.
That has meant big payouts for the firm of senior strategist Tad Devine, which has produced the bulk of the campaigns ads; Old Towne Media, a small media placement operation run by two of Devines longtime buyers; and Revolution Messaging, a digital firm led by veterans of President Obamas 2008 campaign.

(1,901 posts)fiscal planning. People are free to give money to whomever they wish. It's like all those people who send in their kid's lunch money to various tv preachers. There is no explanation for blind faith, and for some that is the relationship they have with this campaign. One only hopes that they get refunds when the FEC is through with Bernie and Jane's poor accounting skills and that they did not give more than they could afford to be without for however long that takes.
