None of the people trying to protest-vote their way to purity want to be doing it alone, so they console themselves by pretending everyone else is doing it. It's kind of like sex in that regard: less of your peers are actually doing it than you think, especially among younger people.

There's no mass movement of Millennials to not vote for Clinton. It's a media invention to add pressure to the horse race. As a 2008 Clinton primary voter who gladly pulled the lever for Obama in November, I speak from experience after hearing about PUMAs non-stop between the 2008 Dem convention and general election.
