I realize that it is difficult when the candidate that you sincerely believe is the best candidate does not win at the primary level. That has happened to me more than once.
But I have always picked myself back up again and voted for the nominee in the GE. That is one failure that I will never have on my conscience.

(46,051 posts)There are a few loudmouths who may not support Hillary, but they weren't likely to vote for a Dem, anyway. The huge majority of Bernie supporters are reasonable people like you.
FWIW, if the shoe had been on the other foot, I'd vote for Bernie with a great deal of enthusiasm.

(45 posts)Most Bernie supporters will support Hillary and vice versa. There are some hardcore Bernie supporters who have been using republican talking points AKA misinformation to degrade Hillary's character but that's just the fringe. If you go online on why people hate her 90% of it is character/personality base rather than her policies. Hillary was the first person in politics (despite not having a real political title in the 90s) to bring up universal healthcare un the USA. I honestly believe she would be for single payer IF the country did not have 19 trillion dollars in debt. In the 90s under Bill there was a surplus and progressive ideas although farfetched ideologically to most, was economically viable. Hillary is pragmatic and a doer, rather than an idealist who just wishes and hopes. The ACA is basically universal healthcare-lite. Getting rid of it and starting over will increase debt and increase taxes among the middle class. Im willing to bet that most hardcore bernie supporters were ron paul supporters. Hillary if elected should make Bernie in charge of the Environmental ProtectioN Agency or Department of Labor.

(1,359 posts)We already lived it 8 years ago, so we can commiserate a lot. And I would admit that Clinton's 2008 campaign is proof enough that Bernie doesn't have to concede before he wants to, because she campaigned to the end in that cycle herself.

(1,630 posts)What a gracious post. Sending you big hugs because I know how much it hurts when your candidate doesn't prevail.
I agree with you about wanting to focus on getting rid of any possibility of Trump. All of the Sander's supporters I know IRL are like you; horrified by the specter of the fascist. Let's take the White House, Congress and the Supremes so we can get legislation that stops the Right Wing damage. We can bring the country out of the dark ages together. I'm sooo hopeful and truly glad you posted.

(1,053 posts)I feel like there's a political rejiggering going on (and not the one Bernie
is touting).
I think the right has finally gone completely insane, and for the near
future at least, those on the rightish end of the spectrum who don't
match that level of crazy are in a difficult situation...and I think a lot
of them will have to resolve it by crossing over, or not voting.
