If todays general election polling holds true,
Hillary Clinton will easily defeat Donald Trump.
But... But... Bernie said?!

(2,792 posts)What I see in the Sanders campaign is delusion or a cloud of "wrong views." In Buddhism, the word is Avidyā (Sanskrit for ignorance or delusion). Ignorance is not a lack of knowledge; it is a haze of self-serving opinions that keep us from seeing things as they really are. Denying reality has no long-term benefits.
Is there a word for whiny, marginal, disaffected naybobs?

(2,792 posts)One of the things that I find so important about this primary is that Buddhist psychology has lots to say about the anger, hatred, ignorance, and delusion of the Bernie campaign -- and the Trump campaign, I might add. Both campaigns are an affront to humanity as we ought to practice it. We are supposed to be about compassion and love, and we are supposed to see things as they really are (pure objectivity). What a mess we have let ourselves become.
Unfortunately, I am a pretty lousy Buddhist; but at least I know better; and I keep trying.
Great to chat with you!

(11,746 posts)The supreme good is like water,
which nourishes all things without trying to.
It is content with the low places that people disdain.
Thus it is like the Tao.
In dwelling, live close to the ground.
In thinking, keep to the simple.
In conflict, be fair and generous.
In governing, don't try to control.
In work, do what you enjoy.
In family life, be completely present.
When you are content to be simply yourself
and don't compare or compete,
everybody will respect you.
Taoism is very important for me as well.
Aggressive confrontation is self-defeating, as we've seen in political life. It saddens me that Bernie and some of his followers simply do not get that fact.
I suppose we are all tempted to rush headlong into things.
I appreciate and respect where you are coming from.

(879 posts)but I think a state like Florida will be a much larger blowout. Cuban-Americans who normally vote for Republicans will not support Trump.
