I finally hit my breaking point this morning

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027848044#post7

Don't know if this will come through right.

I finally saw one more reference to Hillary serving time in the Big House and alerted on it. Yes, the poster was quoting a comment to an article somewhere but with obvious approval.

I'm so sick of this shit on a site that almost literally kept me sane during the Bush years. I hope to God Skinner keeps his word and this crap is stopped when we have a nominee. it'll have to be stopped by someone in charge because these types aren't going to face reality and stop on their own.

And to think I used to be a mod here.

to go back to a Mod system. People that understand the rules will have to enforce the rules.
The jury system was an interesting experiment and it seems to work until people start to gather into cliques and act like teenage mean girls.

And maybe they'll feel some shame/regret when their emotions sober up someday. (Hey, anything's possible...)

But no reason for us to join them in the gutter. Stand tall; our candidate has won, even if there's still some of the process left to complete before it's official.

Your comments to stand tall and stay out of the gutter are spot on. I find the overly aggressive and obnoxious tone of far too many posters tiresome. People who write with uncivilized attitudes lose their arguments, in my view, because I'll tune out and not read their posts.

We need mutual respect in order to make certain that Democratic candidates win their races.

If someone replies to a normal, civil post in an overly aggressive and hostile way, I don't feel an obligation to read it, much less respond. There's no point in arguing with someone who's spoiling for a fight; it'll just drag you into the gutter and put you in a bad mood. Even though my first instinct may be to react in kind, I know it won't help (which is advice I should have followed more when I was younger).

3. Community moderation can work ... with oversight. It would only need ...
Sun May 22, 2016, 10:08 AM
May 2016

... a group of trusted and responsible "super moderators" who would be given the responsibility of reviewing (at random, or every 10th jury decision) and judging whether the jurors who participated were being fair, or were being clique-ish in their vote.

If a juror was blatantly ignoring the rules, then that juror would be prohibited from serving again ... or would be put on a time-out from being able to serve again.

The downside is that *some* unfair decisions would get through. The upside is that over time, the dishonest jurors would be ferreted out and eliminated from the jury pool. Another upside is that the "super moderators" wouldn't have to moderate each-and-every alert. They'd only be monitoring how jurors perform (and because the jurors would be aware that their participation was being watched, they'd be more motivated to do the right thing from the outset.)

for what they did, I hope DU can recover some sanity soon. I have left for months at a time because of the insanity over the Clintons and the D party. Criticism is one thing, board spamming with constant hate is another. If it doesn't get fixed I am sure the site will no longer be a place to visit for a lot of old long time members who are serious about politics and serious about fighting the pukes.

I knew I could blow off steam here.

Of course, the post stood. 4 to 3 decision. Ironically, right after I alerted, I was called to a jury on a post that called Hillary evil. I voted to hide, and of course, it stood 4 to 3. This is starting to feel like the Supreme Court with it's 5 to 4 gawdawful decisions.

I just keep telling myself it will be over and they'll all have to crawl back under their rocks.

It is essentially an anti-Hillary site outside of this group.

Yesterday I did canvassing and calling for Hillary in California, and I will be doing it again today, and periodically until the June 7th primaries.

Their posts are a true reflection of their candidate, and it is quite ugly

Just support Hillary anyway you can, and keep your eye on the goal
