He also supports BDS, which Hillary strongly opposes.
This shit has no place in the Democratic Party. Yesterday, I left messages at the DSCC, DCCC, DNC, and a few other orgs expressing my displeasure. I've also tweeted a bunch of people. I was hoping you all could join me and get people to join me as well. Hateful shit, and the extreme-left are not what the Democratic Party of Hillary Clinton is about.

(53,035 posts)But it amounts to nothing. The National convention has become about theater. I don't know how much influence the platform committee actually has. If anything, West's presence serves as a stark reminder of why Bernie couldn't attract the black vote. I don't know if he has never figured out how much most black people dislike West, or if he just doesn't care.

(27,815 posts)Funny, in 2008, I watched the State of the Black Union that Dyson refers to here. Hillary was the only candidate who attended, and IIRC, Cornel West was there, raking her and Tavis Smiley over the coals for standing in Obama's way.

He will not be a thoughtful contributor to Democratic Party politics, to say the least.
Bad choice, Bernie. Unsurprising, but still - a really bad and unhelpful choice.

(44,173 posts)He'll be outvoted on the committee. He is Bernie's pick. A curious pick, to be sure, but that's his choice. Likewise, I get mad when the Sanders people bitch and complain about Hillary's picks.
On the committee votes he'll be defeated in vote after vote.

Incredibly, the one who would be the STANDARD BEARER of the DEMOCRATIC party, this same Clintons other half, has supported an unseemly number of policies, approaches, and initiatives of the OPPOSITION party , the REPUBLICANS.
No need to go down the rabbit hole of 'progressive ' not progressive' CLinton is a fricking REPUBLICAN! And this is becially been the options to the american people since the Clinton Coup : moderate corporate Republican or Radical Insurgency, as Chomksy called the modern Republicans. It is plain nonsensical to support one for the standard bearer position who aligns so much w/ the opposition, the 'enemy'. It would take our nation even further away from its ideals set down in the defacto mission stmt .. which stmt more closely aligns with traditional democratic progressive values since FDR - ie, Bernie Sanders' values of 'social democracy'.

Ive spent the last day in Washington, where Democrats are quietly gearing up to negotiate a 'tax amnesty' for American-based global corporations that have parked some $2.1 trillion in untaxed profits abroad (mostly in tax havens) to avoid paying their U.S. taxes.
"The U.S. corporate tax rate is 35 percent, but Obama is ready to offer 14 percent if theyll bring the profits home; Republicans want 10 percent; some Democratic senators are willing to go even lower (Barbara Boxer is teaming up with Rand Paul to offer 6.5 percent).
