At the Iowa Jefferson-Jackson Dinner the place where Barack Obamas ascent truly started Clinton made the case shell further his legacy, and Sanders cast himself as another outsider.snip//
Clinton, following a speech by Martin OMalley, took the stage to sustained applause from the largest contingent of supporters in the hall, lit up in neon blue by hundreds of campaign-issue glow sticks.
Her Jefferson-Jackson speech did not differ much from the one she typically gives at campaign stops. But Clinton had a greater focus on the the need to defend and preserve Obamas record by electing a successor from the party, remiding voters here, I am running as a proud Democrat. Sanders is seeking the nomination as a registered Independent.
As supporters chanted, Im With Her, Clinton was also sure to thank Joe Biden, who earlier this week announced after months of intense speculation that he would not seek the Democratic nomination. Lets show him how much we appreciate Vice President Joe Biden, Clinton said, noting that Biden has by Obamas side, every step of the way.
We need to defend the progress that weve made under President Obama, Clinton said, arguing as she often does that her former opponent doesnt get the credit he deserves for steering the country through a recession.

I love Hillary for this! She acknowledges the reality of the last 7 years.. and the progress that the Obama Admin has made. Which has been huge! She doesn't diss it.
I snipped what I wanted.. It's actually only Hillary who's "fighting for the Obama mantle".. BS just wants to be the outsider.. The title is a misnomer.

I love it that Hillary knows what really is going on here.
Thank you so much!
President Obama has had so many amazing accomplishments but the RW media focuses on the negative.
Yes, Hillary "gets it." President Obama is still very popular among intelligent, thinking people and it is a good move on her part to align herself with his policies, IMHO!

(297,727 posts)Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is not interested in continuing President Obamas legacy, saying he would go further than the president to tackle the defining issues of the day.

(30,058 posts)Disastrous"Go it alone" path taken by W, it took lots of work, President Obama gave several speeches and Hillary did a wonderful ambassador job of returning some of our old friends back to our pre W days. There are still issues we face because of the Bush administration failures such as ISIS and lots more terror in the world.
