Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumBernie's New Ads Will Change Everything!
People don't know Bernie yet, once they hear what he has to say and what he stands for, they will desert Hillary in droves and join the revolution! Bernie will surge! I wouldn't be surprised if Hillary drops out before the end of the week.
Oh, wait.
Sorry, those were the talking points about the debate.
Never mind.

(27,815 posts)I'm almost positive I've been seeing political ads for the last six decades. Who knew this was a "first", and would shock the world!?!
The real upshot of this is that BS has shown himself to be just another politician, doing what every other politician does in every election. But it has to be characterized as something "shocking" by his supporters, who refuse to accept that he's just another politician.

(4,309 posts)I'm sorry. He turns people off. He's no Bill Clinton or Barack Obama, and he is certainly no Hillary Clinton. I can't see him ever winning in the GE. And for all the socialist/outsider cred he pretends to have, he has some of the ultimate old-time insiders running his campaign.

(30,058 posts)Her numbers have been going up, maybe it was a good debate performance and people heard what she had to say and like what she says. Okay then, I guess I missed my shock wave.

What happened? And now shock waves are shaking America to the core? Viva the Bernie revolution!

(27,815 posts)... is not exactly as exciting as advertised.
It's kind of like when you finally got that SeaMonkeys kit as a kid, and realized it didn't look anything like it did in the ad on the back of the comic book.
I remember fondly the halcyon days when Bernie was going to "mop the floor" with Hillary at the first debate.
Well, as things turned out, I guess the name Bernie "The Floor-Mopper" Sanders will have to be redacted from future promotional materials.
But they can always go with "Only candidate to ever send shockwaves around the political universe by airing the same type of political ad that every other politician has run since the dawn of TV advertising" from here on in.
Granted, not as catchy as "The Floor Mopper" - but you've got to work with what you've got.

(27,815 posts)... that he was just going to recite the same laundry list of complaints he's been spouting for decades - and still hasn't come up with any viable solutions for.
It immediately became obvious that he thinks his litany of complaints is LBN to voters, that they don't already know what's wrong with things as they are. Does he really think people are that stupid?
Well, apparently he does.

(34,648 posts)Almost makes me feel like he thinks I did it. I know I know! Impossible!
But I sense a distain there that bugs me.

Just one example of the late-breaking news that BS is convinced no one knew about until he bravely brought up the topic.

(27,815 posts)... at telling people what they already know, and acting as though they're hearing it for the first time.
Other than that dubious "skill", there's really not much to recommend him.

(34,648 posts)He moves his hands like he's petting two horses of differing sizes. Watch his hands. I do. I love it. I always wonder what it means.
Plus he yells like it will solve stuff then says yelling won't solve stuff. I love that too.

I'm sure his new ads are breathtaking, but he's done.

(42,862 posts)A candidate who spends everything to win the nomination, and who runs a "crowd sourced" campaign against a well-funded GOP money machine isn't likely to win.

(1,053 posts)That such a candidate would serve to flush out the ills of the Democratic party, rejuvenate
it, revolutionize it, etc.
...and I have to agree. His campaign has really shed light on the unsavory elements of the party.
Just turns out those elements were of the over-entitled libertarian, elitist, socially unaware
variety.

(32,342 posts)As far as I'm concerned, the moment they declared that they'd never vote for Clinton if she wins the nomination was the moment they outed themselves as no better than the Tea Party.
People who don't vote Democratic belong to the same species. No matter what their justifications might be, the end result is the same--minorities and poor people get screwed over. Must be nice to be so special and privileged that you don't have to care about anyone but yourself.

(145,359 posts)I keep asking the Sanders supporters to explain how Sanders is a viable general election candidate in a contest where the Kochs will be spending $887 million and the RNC candidate may be spending another billion dollars. I have yet to receive a satisfactory answer to this inquiry but some of the responses have included claims that (i) youtube is magical, (ii) twitter is magical, (iii) social medial is magical, (iv) no one watches TV any longer and (v) ads are a waste of money. It is hard to reconcile such claims with the posts from the Sanders supporters about this ad.
