May I ask to be welcomed into this group?

I have credentials that can be checked out.

I am a long-time Obama supporter, and a supporter of the Democratic Party. As such, I am all-too-familiar with being criticized for supporting both here on DemocraticUnderground.

I am a Hillary supporter - and again, I understand how supporting a candidate who has demonstrated her many abilities to assume the role of POTUS is not welcome in a place that still calls itself a "Democratic-supporting" site.

I was an Obama supporter back on '08 because I believed he was the most qualified to be POTUS at that time. I do not regret nor retract that support.

I am now an HRC supporter in '16 because I believe she is the most qualified to be POTUS at this time. I do not regret nor retract that support.

I have already suffered the slings-and-arrows of the anti-Obama contingent on DU. I am prepared to do the same in the face of the anti-HRC contingent - which seems to be comprised of the same posters. (Mere coincidence, I'm sure.)

When it comes to the 2016 election, I'm in it to win it. And Hillary can win it.

If I am not acceptable in this group due to my having chosen Obama over Hillary in 2008, I fully understand that.

So I am asking for admittance, rather than assuming I will be welcome here.

I supported Hillary in 2008 but I was more than happy to campaign for Obama in the general election and I would do so again. At this time, I too believe Hillary is the best person for the job. Prepare thyself for more slings are arrows in the next 18 months.

And I would have been 100% behind Hill in '08, is that's the way things played out.

In it to win it - and every poll/survey backs Hill's ability to do just that.

I have read your many posts over time, and you are a particular favourite of mine - as well as my sister's (Desert Flower).

She often mentions you when she and I discuss DU, and your ability to introduce reason into any political discussion.

Two great posters are sisters. Learn something new everyday.

thank you so much for your kind words and I always enjoyed reading your posts.

2008 votes are not important to me. We had great candidates in 2008 and we all made choices as we will this time.

The HRC room is for positive news about Hillary and we are very happy to have you.

We have over the years, as all sisters do, disagreed on a million or so things.

But when it comes to the Democratic Party, we stand together and WILL NOT be moved.

As Desert Flower and I, as native Brooklynites, often say of outspoken women: "Oy, she's got a mouth on her." We have always, nonetheless, appreciated how that "mouth" can be used to move mountains when necessary.

I think Hillary has a "mouth on her" that can do just that.

Nance, I've really been glad to see your re-emergence here on Democratic Underground. You've got a lot of good, basic common sense, a sharp sense of humor, and you call bullshit.

However, you may be sticking your neck out too far by endorsing *gulp* Democrats. That's a pretty risky proposition around here.

Risky proposition indeed.

You know those "I'm so old" thingys you see on FB and the like? Well, I'm so old I remember when DU actually WAS a Democratic-supporting site.

Seems like a million years ago now ...

We welcome all that follow our Statement of Purpose (that may change in the near future, depending what announcements that may follow from Hilary).

As to 2008, well that was 2008. From the people I know in this Group no grudges are held.

BTW, we would be more than happy to welcome you to our Group.

I am not trying to be coy.

If there are members of this group who think that having supported Obama over HRC in 2008 is not an acceptable position to have taken, I fully understand that. I just wanted to be sure that my support of Obama then is not perceived as an insincere support of Hillary now.

I still believe that Obama was the right choice THEN - just as I firmly believe that HRC is the right choice NOW.

But I accepted it & moved on and over the years I am happy to say he proved me wrong. None of us are perfect no matter how hard we try.

I have been one of his most ardent supporters for years now.

As to Hillary after seeing her in action as Secretary of State, I will do everything in my power to see her secure the Democratic nomination & then become the next President of the United States. President Obama has done us proud and has served his time with honor & dignity. What more could be asked for.

Seems to me if ANY woman is ready to be the First Woman President, it's Hillary Rodham Clinton. But she also happens to be the most ready of ANYBODY out there, from either side, who wants to run for the damn job. For me, though, sometimes I wonder who in their right mind would seek it in the first place!

I would like to join this group as well, if they'll have me!

SOMEHOW getting some important things done - even in the face of opposition of the kind we have never seen before in the history of this country. I don't EVER remember any such opposition confronting any other President before him. Hell, even the Secret Service statistics prove it - that this President has faced as much as a 400% increase in threats against his life, compared to any other President for whom they've kept such records.

Even their obstruction and relentless opposition to President Clinton wasn't NEARLY this vile.

Ours against bush/cheney never got traction because our side was NOT listened to. Our side was not only NOT listened to, we were muzzled. We didn't even have the chance to make points that could be ignored. When I think back to all the talking heads who got face time on TV and cable, I can't even remember ANY voices coming in from the left, invited onto the panel discussions, to deliver truth about these bastards LYING us into a war that didn't need to be fought and shouldn't have been waged. I don't remember ANYBODY - except maybe, on occasion, Michael O'Hanlon of the Brookings Institution - who was the ONLY figure I remember even being remotely passed off as a voice from "the left." And shit - come to find out he's a PNAC signatory too.

I like to think we are more of a "beg for forgiveness" type group than we are an "ask for permission" sect. The wonderful thing about being a democrat is we embrace all thoughtful opines.........even the ones with which we don't agree. Welcome, and thanks for adding to the colorful threads that make up the fabric that is the warming, loving, and strength of diversity within this wonderful country.

Glad you're here! I'm glad you're here on DU, that is. While I've enjoyed being part of DU for years, I just joined this Hillary Clinton group, so I'm pretty new to presume to be welcoming you to this group. But - what the heck, so be it!

She isn't perfect, certainly. But she's the best prospect out there. EXPONENTIALLY better than what the other side can come up with!!!
