Bernice King of Atlanta, MLK's daughter....

In 2005, she led a march to her father's gravesite and at the same time called out for a constitutional ban on gay marriage. She once said to LGBT supporters that her father did not take a bullet for same-sex marriage.[134]
During Atlanta's 2012 Martin Luther King Jr. Day rally, King included LGBT people among the various groups who needed to come together to "fulfill her father’s legacy."[135] When speaking at Brown University in 2013, King made statements regarding her beliefs about the origins of marriage: "I believe that the family was created and ordained first and foremost by God, that he instituted the marriage, and that's a law that he instituted and not... that we instituted"[136] and about the origins of same-sex attraction: "I also don't believe everybody's born that way. I know some people have been violated. I know some people have unfortunately delved into it as an experiment".[137] King has publicly stated that her father would have been against gay marriage.[138]

How is this meeting perceived to be "helpful" in any way? What was he thinking? Why publicize this encounter?

The timing of this run is probably as good as it would have ever been for him in terms of mood of the country. And he is getting crushed. Crushed.

So no, I don't think he thinks these things through.

Are they incompetent? Clueless? Do they WANT him to lose?

This woman is a BIGOT. She is a wingnut who is the darling of the conservatives.

How's she gonna help him with Democrats?

Unless he's decided he wants to run for the GOP nomination.

This seems as good a way as any to scoop a few out of the gutter.

I hate seeing that attitude from anybody--it's so hurtful and harmful and evil in that hurt and harm.

If he's meeting her out of respect for her father, that's one thing, but if he's using her status as daughter of a prominent African Anerican hero for political expediency--I'm at a loss for words

He's trying to reprise his "I marched with Martin" shtick by gettng a photo op with MLK's daughter. Somehow, though, this daughter has very little of either parent in her. The meeting won't impress African Americans, and it will further alienate LGBT's.

A really clueless fiasco.

Why did he campaign with cornel west.. the big slur thrower at Pres Obama?

Why does he say things like "I'm not running for president because I think it's my turn"?

I don't really give a shite as long as he gets no where near the Presidency.. he doesn't have what it takes.

I am amazed at the people who insist that he's "the real lefty" when he has often said that he's not a liberal. See, I tend to believe him when he says those kinds of things. His record on guns and his preference for the 'states rights' approach to legislation does bear that out.

Teddy "Shot a man on San Juan Hill" Roosevelt was a progressive, too....there are progressive conservatives in this world as well. Some people here think that P word is a synonym for Liberal, and it ain't.

I don't think he has enough women on his immediate campaign staff. He shouldn't rely on his wife as the Be-All and End-All when it comes to how women feel about things--she's out of step.
