Hillary Clinton was asked an unexpected foreign policy question on the trail—and she nailed it.

Nov 4, 2015 by Elizabeth Chan
A candidate who knows exactly what’s going on in Laos.

At a campaign stop in Iowa, Hillary got asked an unexpected foreign policy question about unexploded bombs in Laos—leftovers from the Vietnam War.
Without missing a beat, Hillary gave a four-minute response that shows exactly what it would mean to have a former secretary of state in the Oval Office.

Hillary for America
Even though the Vietnam War ended decades ago, the unexploded land mines that were left behind continue to kill and injure people today.

It takes walking every square foot with a metal detector and digging up any piece of metal that you find.

It can be done but it is very time consuming and can be dangerous.

On September 6, 2006, a Senate bill -- a simple amendment to ban the use of cluster bombs in civilian areas -- presented Senator Clinton with a timely opportunity to protect the lives of children throughout the world. The cluster bomb is one of the most hated and heinous weapons in modern war, and its primary victims are children. She voted to keep Cluster Bombs.

Israel was, and this resolution was seen in some quarters as a rebuke to that nation. A fairly large fraction of Hillary's constituency was Jewish. She voted accoeding to their concerns, just as Sanders voted against the Brady Bill and for Lockheed Martin's F-35 and drones, both of which are weapons of mass destruction.

Foe the record, I don't like any of those votes. But if "constiuancy " is a valid defense of one candidate, it's equally valid for another.

... is that the Hillary haters here scour every word of her record and every statement she makes in the present to find "evidence" that she is a warhawk and a warmonger.

Never do they present any real solutions for the problems we have right now in the world and in the country. They just whinge that Hillary is a Hawk and that she can't wait for her "friends" in the MIC to start making money off of mayhem. In their eyes she must be Dick Cheney in a pantsuit, which is just sick.

I am very appreciative that HRC immediately started to accrue foreign policy credentials as soon as she hit the Senate, and was more than ready to prove herself as SoS when appointed by Obama. I think she will be more than ready for whatever comes.

But the same people who says Hillary is a war hawk but Sanders isn't, it is not reasonable.

It's one of the many things that impress me so. And that people underestimate. They made the same mistake with Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

These people are not just smart, they are knowledgeable.
