It's all about the expedience for him and his followers. I would not be at all surprised if he ran as an independent. I have never trusted him.

Bernie is a Dem only for convenience. He currently gets all the perks that come with running as a member of OUR party -- and make no mistake, that DNC data base is a BFD that individual candidates cannot AFFORD to replicate, much less someone like Sanders the Independent from Vermont.

His campaign staffers screwed up royally, and they did it all by themselves. It's not Debbie Wasserman Schultz's doing, much less Hillary Clinton's.

Yet watch the faithful go ballistic....

Disagree with what Bernie Sander's is doing regarding this breach and you get banned from their group? Not acting very adult like over there. I have respect for Bernie, but not a lot of his supporters here on DU.
