Hillary's veep: Unity ticket to keep BS supporters happy(ish) or youth to secure the party's future

Pondering this, I have no desire to see Sanders as veep, even if some of his supporters take their balls and go home. I would much prefer to see that we're gaining visibility for the next generation of leaders, as there is a pretty significant age gap between the Repub candidates and ours.

I've never made any secret about my desire for this, but that is just one of the many reasons I hope (and expect) Clinton to go with Julian Castro.

Same here. How old is Bernie again?

From a tiny state as well, he would add zero to the ticket.

And no diversity either, wouldn't look good there as well.

Like Biden is to Obama. That would leave Bernie out, I think he would be too outspoken every time he disagreed with her.

Not suited in temperament or focus to the very ceremonial position of VP. And anyway, I doubt he would even want it.

If he thought his supporters would not continue to be active one he loses and jeopardizes the General Election, then he'd probably be willing to do so to prevent that from happening. Sanders knows what is most important in the grand scheme of things.

However, I don't think Clinton has any interest in a unity ticket and would rather being an up and comer into the fold. So you don't need to worry about the potential of Sanders saying yes to VP-hood.

He's been trashed on DU by the Bernie peeps on DU. But let's face it, the most vocal Bernie supporters on DU are full of shit and don't represent Bernie's real supporters.

Ted Strickland as her VP. Even though I admire Julian Castro, and would love to see him as her VP, I don't believe this country is ready to vote for 2 minorities on the same ticket.

During the debates, he was a lightweight on foreign policy, but I thought his framing on immigration and Syria was spot on. He framed it as a moral dilemma in a very sincere way that I thought would resonate well with religious voters. And he made good points about his experience in state government. Frankly, if he can thread the political needle of Baltimore and MD politics successfully, he wold probably be a useful ally for behind the scenes machinations at the White House too.

From a realpolitik standpoint, I guess it also matters who she runs against, Rubio, Cruz or Trump. I don't know all that much about Castro. He has youth and energy, that I have seen. But not really sure about his resume and ambitions.

Bernie Sanders would not be good, and that is no slam on him. He is GREAT at being the loyal opposition, but does not have the temperament for the endless ceremony and politicking of VP. I seriously doubt he would take it, even if offered. My questions is what does he want instead? He does deserve something tangible and significant, IMO, for the amount of fire he brought to the campaign. Although I do not necessarily agree with a lot of his supporters, there ARE a lot of supporters. And they have made pretty clear that they are energized and want some changes. That has to be acknowledged.

The ticket needs geographical balance. Julian Castro improves our chance of taking Texas.
