Maybe I will post here because I done with the DU Primaries forum

I will continue to post the results of polls, but am not going to try to engage Bernie supporters any more because it it exhausting and a big waste of time.

Just when I think I have seen it all on from the Bernie bunch, something new make my jaw drop. What a bunch of totally unrealistic fanatics.

In some some ways I am reminded of the people described in book which was required reading in one of my college classes many years ago. (I am not talking about all Bernie supporters here, just those who are really out there.) The True Believer: Thoughts On The Nature Of Mass Movements" was written back in 1951 by a social psychologist Eric Hoffer. The book discusses the psychological aspects of the fanaticism of "true believer" movements down through history.

While the most fervent Bernie Supporters may not be a one to one matches for the typical true believers described by Hoffer, the similarities of their attitudes is unmistakable.

If you ever have a chance to read the book, do so. It is a bit dry, but truly eye opening. And maybe it will help you understand the most fanatical Bernie supporters on DU

I discovered what you've learned awhile ago and this is where I hang out on DU.

Lots of good information on Hillary's path to POTUS.. and we don't have to deal with intruders.. more than once anyway.

I hear ya.. but, don't need to understand them.. I just know they are.. and I don't want to be anywhere near them.

We expect it to be Hillary.

What we never expected was the poisonous, nasty, over-the-top, unadulterated Hillary Hate and the contempt and disdain directed at Hillary supporters.

GD-P is now their sand box, it was given to them.

They would like to - and try to - play in our sand box.

No positive Hillary post anywhere is tolerable! On a Democratic website!

I don't know what you call that - but it ain't right!

Especially since Sanders is an Independent! Using the Democratic infrastructure to further his cause. Hillary has been paying her dues a long time, working for Democrats, supporting the president. Disappointed in DU! (Except for the Hillary group)

This whole website was given to the BSers and they control it via the hilariously unfair Bernie packed juries.

I see as much anti-democratic party hate and disinformation here as freakrepublic/fox news and breitbart!

Its amazing and sad as hell.

Enthusiast true believers were the heart of some most reviled movements in world history. While I certainly done equate fanatical Bernie supporters with those responsible for the Bolshevik revolution in Russia or those who initiated the National Socialist German Workers' Party, there are some similarities. On the other hand, the early Christians also fit perfectly Eric Hoffer's description of "true believers".

I don't recognize DU anymore, I've written to Skinner and I've had no response. It didn't use to be this way, and I don't understand why they have let it become so contentious. It is of no benefit to make this forum a place to berate people with the same beliefs whose goal is to elect sanity back into our government to bring those down ballot elections the benefit of a candidate that will elect Democrats. I know we are not perfect, but it's almost a fanaticism and excludedness that I have ever felt before except from Republicans.

...but it sounds a whole lot like social contagion, where social behaviors and beliefs sweep through a population like a virus. I think it is helped along by the peer factor. Ever hear of a "happening" from the sixties and seventies? Young people would swarm to these events because others did. They would all join in with whatever was going on--conforming to the group. We now have social media that makes mass attendance and conformity even easier.

The behavior of Hillary supporters compared to the antics of the Bernie supporters is like night and day. It's easy for us to be objective here. Hillary racks up a new endorsement seemingly every day, while the news about Bernie stays about the same.

I've been thinking that's one of the reasons why the Sanders supporters so quickly attack polls that are favorable toward her or the people and organizations who endorse her. There's no new news about Bernie to tout. If there is a poll that shows him leading somewhere, they post it over and over again until the next article comes out.

They will, of course, credit a media conspiracy with there not being as much news about Sanders. The opposite is true. An endorsement is news. Leading in a new poll is news. Bernie just doesn't enjoy as many of those things. There are only so many stories about a lot of people showing up that people outside of DU want to see.

They gang up on any positive Hillary post and cry foul play if anyone posts an even slightly negative Bernie post. Yet almost all their OP's are vicious Hillary slams. I don't even read it anymore, and frankly they are turning me off to Bernie.

...not going to try to engage Bernie supporters any more because it it exhausting and a big waste of time.

You are absolutely correct!! It's a complete waste of time!

As a result, I've stopped using the "trash thread" button and immediately use the "ignore user" button for all trash-worthy threads.

My "ignore-list" has soared to over 500 individuals.

If I peek into the "Bernie Group" subsection, it appears to be TOTALLY EMPTY! Like an abandoned warehouse! Because of the completeness of my ignore list, not a single post is displayed until I get to page 20 in that group. :-D

Looking at GDP forum, the main page has only 25-30 posts... and when I view more active threads (the ones with more than 50 replies) I typically see only a handful of replies. It's bliss!!

Too bad the ignore-user and trash-forum features don't extend to include all the garbage posts that make it to this web site's home page. (But then again, all things considered, if that were reality, then this web site's home page might appear to be as empty as the Bernie Group appears to be.)

I'm really looking forward to the fireworks show on the day that Bernie withdraws from the race (or the day that it's mathematically impossible for him to win the nomination.). I'll reset my ignore list back to zero, sit back, and watch the fun unfold. It will be grand!
