From being called a worthless bitch” who “needs a shock collar” and “seems castrating,” it’s hard to overstate how much sexist bullshit Hillary Clinton has had to put up with in the media.

Like ALL women who have succeeded (without having been born on third base already), Hillary has had to be twice as qualified and work twice as hard to get half as far.

The fact is that she is not only the best qualified candidate running in this race; she can step into the WH on Day 1 and begin to implement her policies.

The nasty slurs and name-calling comments against Hillary (one idiot poster on DU actually called her a sociopath) are all deliberately intended to "put her in her place" - just as racial slurs against President Obama are intended to put him in his.

How dare anyone but a white male ever aspire to be President of the US?

White males NEVER EVER get the same treatment. They can literally do, say, and dress as they want.

If you don't "get" this, you are part of the problem - whether you are a woman or not. Some women are worse than men in not "getting" it - or living in denial.

Certainly not as big a deal as talking about oligarchies.

It's no big deal to call a public woman disgusting names. Just like it's no big deal to dismiss conversations about sexist shit thrown at a public woman by saying things like, "you can only get so much mileage out of these complaints."

Because after all, the only reason people would discuss those things would be to "get mileage."

It can't be that they discuss those things because it is important note when people devalue and debase half the population. These people are devaluing and debasing half the population with their sexism, but that's not important. It's stupid to think it is

I bet you don't even realize that your comment is seething with sexism.

Sun Feb 7, 2016, 09:26 PM

These comments are so-o-o over the top. But the truth is that Hillary Clinton specifically has heard this all before and women generally can easily identify. Any woman who has had the audacity to speak her mind or [God forbid] tread on male territory--like demanding equal pay--has been subjected to these sorts of sexist attacks, either directly or indirectly.

The put downs are endless, some vicious, some violent, all insulting. We see them on the work front, home front and in daily conversation. And women who get annoyed by this onslaught of belittlement are considered overly sensitive or conversely mannish, downright silly [because there's always something more important to consider], PMS riddled or simply bitches who cannot or would not ever satisfy their male partners.

Hello! Twenty-first century, people.

Women leaders exist around the world and in history, only proving this theory so, so wrong-headed. So, anyone diminishing the ability of women better wake up quick.

Because we have a female warrior in our midst and she's coming to town, coming on strong. And she's ready to mow any/all doubters down.

With Obama the RW media and pundits are a little more discrete, using dog whistle terminology, their followers not so much, if you remember many of the pictures depicting Obama as a monkey etc. With Hillary, there seems to be no restraint on the demeaning adjectives they fling her way. Unfortunately we're even seeing some of that crass messaging reposted in many of the OP's in the Bernie group forum. Sad, sad, sad.
