NEW HILLARY AD, “featuring a testimonial from Reverend Thompson of Charleston, South Carolina, who lost his wife in the Charleston shooting. In the ad, Reverend Thompson makes the case that Hillary Clinton is ‘standing with the President to get stronger gun laws so no family has to go through anything like this again.’” http://bit.ly/1TckqSn

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is airing a new TV ad in South Carolina that features the husband of one of the nine Emanuel AME Church shooting victims.

The Rev. Anthony Thompson, whose wife Myra was killed at the church, describes receiving a phone call about what transpired the night of June 17.

He goes on to endorse Clinton as “standing with the president to get stronger gun laws so no family has to go through anything like this again.”

Since the June 17 shooting, Thompson has focused his grief on supporting gun control measures. So when Clinton staffers showed up at his house in mid-January, “I was a little surprised,” he admitted. “But I like her platform, and she is saying the same thing she said before.”

The message lists her support for expanded background checks and closing the so-called Charleston loophole in which admitted gunman Dylann Roof purchased a handgun when he shouldn’t have been able to after the background check waiting period had expired.

The ad will begin airing statewide in South Carolina starting this weekend.

powerful.

If I had a loved one killed by gun violence I would want to be advocating for sensible gun laws.. hoping others wouldn't have to go through the loss and pain.

I wonder if he feels any remorse for his previous gun law support and if it makes him squirm a little--particularly when he makes an appearance in South Carolina.
