Hillary Clinton

I am so sick of this "Hillary is Republican" meme that the Sanders folks keep flogging. It is total bullshit and completely false. She may not be quite as far left as Bernie but neither is most of the American electorate. That's one more reason Hillary can win and Bernie can't.

We just don't run a political campaign on fantasy!

And yes, get over it. Clinton was a Republican.
She is backed by corporations and big money.
And she is NOT a liberal but rather what even
she terms a "progressive" which is code for
moderate Republican.
That she is left of our current spate of Republican
candidates does mean something, though it does
not mean she is liberal by any stretch.
I'm not even sure that I would call Sanders
completely liberal, but he is a lot closer to it
than Clinton!!!!

(5,648 posts)Let's Remember: Having liberal credentials only helps in the nomination process and in blue states in the general election.
It is those truly independent voters (and we are not talking about so called independents who normally vote for the Green Party) in eight swing states who are going to decide who will be the next President of the United States. And they are moderates.
Let's not make the mistake of forgetting that one of the reasons Republican nominees in the last two general elections lost to President Obama was that they allowed their far right base to pull them so far to right that they could not tack back to the center and attract the moderate vote.
In my humble opinion. Bernie Sanders did the Democratic Party a huge disservice in forcing Hillary too far too the left. Both Bill and Hillary Clinton both have reputations as left leaning moderates, and that's a good thing in this highly partisan atmosphere.
Yes, I know that most of us here are proud progressives, but we have to expand our vision. We should not view the world only from our own perspectives; we have also see the world from the perspectives of others if we are going to be a successful political party. And arguing with Sanders supporter about whether Hillary is as progressive as Sanders is not going to get it.
