I'm torn.

I find myself sort of wishing that Marco Rubio will get the GOP nomination, simply because I don't like the idea of living in a country where a major party would nominate Donald Trump. On the other hand, I think Trump would be a lot easer for Hillary to beat in a general election. What are you wishing for?

TIA

Or the worse candidate because they might become president. I prefer we have a more reasonable Republican opponent, and that means Rubio.

But I agree that it would hard to stomach Trump for a whole more year and it would be more of a circus. Rubio might be easier to beat since he comes off as inexperienced and Hillary would wipe him off the debate stage. Sweet justice though to see Hillary take Trump down...would be more fun to watch. Guess I'm torn also...

10. Hmm, I hadn't even checked that but that's unsurprising

a little of that is media narrative, but he needs to somehow right his ship in a hurry.

Were the betting odds off on Trump after Iowa? I thought the media narrative after that was impossibly dumb, and if gambling were legal, I would have piled in at that moment.

I feel like the betting sites are a little overreactive.

But come on true believers! You know Cruz is the only one you want!

11. After Iowa, Trump plunged and Rubio soared on those sites

But that corrected itself fairly quickly. Cruz's fade has been steady and ongoing.

... would suggest that Trump or Cruz would be easier to beat, which is why I would prefer either of them over Rubio. Trump will not carry his home state, and we won't win Texas anyway. However, Florida is key to the outcome of the election, and it would be very bad indeed to have a republican nominee from Florida (let's all remember what happened the last time there was a nominee whose brother was the governor of Florida).

I'm still praying we beat Bernie a this point. IMHO Trump will be hard to beat with either of OUR candidates. Why? Because I think GOP voters are dumb and Repuke voter turn out is high this year.

I just can't see the GOP allowing it to happen. I also don't think that Trump really wants the job. He's just a huge narcissist doing it for the fame. He'll either flame-out over the next few weeks/months or there will be a brokered convention and they'll go with Rubio.

And I think that Hillary will easily beat any of them.

7. I hate Cruz, but I'm pulling for him

The "boy in the bubble" is definitely robotic, but hes a slick articulate teenager.

Trump is a wild card, but still a bit of dangerous wild card who the Republican establishment will back if they have no other choice because they view him as "pliable", unlike Cruz

Cruz is the favorite of the Tea Party, but they have been falling out of favor for some time. The Republican establishment hates Cruz and they are afraid that if elected he would ruin their brand for some time to come.

However, the determining factor in my mind is that lately the further right a Republican candidate swings, the less chance he has in the general election. Cruz doesn't have to swing to the far right, he has been there forever. I would love for him to get on stage with Hillary and explain this grandstanding attempts to shut down the government given the public's rage over government gridlock. Hillary will paint Cruz as "Mr. Gridlock".
