Excerpts:
HARLESTON, South Carolina In South Carolina, Hillary Clinton is finally the candidate she always wanted to be.
Gone are questions about her authenticity. Here, black voters say Clintons history as a civil rights stalwart -- she first visited the state as a college grad investigating the problem of youths incarcerated in adult jails for the Childrens Defense Fund -- trumps any trust issues that dog her elsewhere.

The script has been flipped, for the first time, in her favor.
Her stories about her own mothers abused and abandoned childhood resonate deeply with African-American women -- and there are about 100,000 more black women than men of voting age in the state. And to them, it is Bernie Sanders who is viewed as an unknown quantity, whose big ideas of free college and healthcare are greeted with skepticism.

Here, older African-American voters who have struggled with racism and poverty are pragmatic, and believe in the incremental change Clinton espouses. They dont have the luxury of an Iowa college student to vote for ideals, Hodges added.
Many voters say they would have been happy to support her eight years ago if it wasnt for the historic nature of Barack Obamas candidacy. Clintons support for Obama since then has only increased their desire to help her this time.
The feeling among voters here is they have a job to do and thats to nominate Hillary, said Boyd Brown, a DNC executive committee member and super-delegate who is supporting Clinton after originally backing Martin OMalley. They see it as a duty. Theyve got a proven candidate and she might not be the greatest candidate in the world, or the most enthusiastic candidate, but you know what? Shed be a good president and they realize that.

But the calendar doesnt get easier for Sanders on Super Tuesday, which is March 1. A recent Monmouth University poll has Clinton up by 34 points in Texas; in Georgia, polls have her leading between 28 and 52 points; Clinton is up by double digits in Virginia and leading in Florida by 26 points. Devine said they have opportunities to post big wins in Kansas, Nebraska and Maine, caucus states which vote in mid-March.
By the time the race gets to the Michigan primary on March 8, Democratic operatives expect it to act as Clintons final firewall -- or Sanders last stand -- depending on the results of Super Tuesday.

A great read without the double standard media thresholds that often impact her campaign.

The audacity of hope must continue!

Always said if she ran again - I'd be there for her.
Was angry about IWR vote in 08, but more angry about SBS six pro NRA votes.

(35 posts)Sharon it is quickly becoming apparent that there are certain...rules that I was apparently unaware of. I am new and obviously have offended you. My apologies. I will of course delete my post. How can I tell which threads are out of bounds to a sharp penned socialist? Peace

(4,035 posts)There you will find the rules for each forum and group. The Hillary Clinton group is for posts that are supportive of Hillary Clinton. The General Discussion forum bans certain topics from discussion in that forum, such as the Israel/Palestine conflict.
If you do not take the time to observe and read the rules, you are most likely to get a hide, and a hidden post when your post count is below 100 means an automatic ban. Of course, those who do not read the rules, deserve the ban.
Edited to add: There's also a Terms of Service linked at the bottom of the page that is required reading.

(98 posts)The Clinton's have been complicit in so many policies that have destroyed people's lives, have so much baggage as to leave critics feeling exasperated and exhausted by the extent and scope of the Clinton story. Similar to a critique of Republicans, one doesn't know where to begin, which fire to put out. For the Clintons, do you address their record deregulating Wall Street, their shameful self enrichment from the corporations that helped destroy the economy, dismantling welfare, expanding incarceration among minorities, the incompetent and criminal foreign policy oh, nevermind all that, she's a "progressive" who gets things done.

I had to live through the 2 For One Clinton years and you have no inkling of what this person is capable of---she is not what she wants to appear to be.
