Delegate map made by Bernie Sanders camp unwittingly shows how impossible his chances are
By dailynewsbin | March 4, 2016
Bernie Sanders finds himself behind Hillary Clinton by hundreds of delegates after Super Tuesday, and thats before even getting to the much discussed superdelegates. But Bernies supporters arent giving up so easily, despite nearly every statistical analyst suggesting that his chances are now slim to none. Theyve put together a delegate map which lays out a path to victory for him but its full of impossible reversals and math from another planet.
The map in question has quickly become a viral meme on Facebook, as Bernie Sanders supporters have optimistically circulated it. But the trouble with the map begins when one observes that it requires Bernie to win Ohio by twenty percent, a state where current polls say hes behind by fifteen percent, with just eleven days for this wholesale reversal of public opinion in the state to take place. Similarly impossible math can be found in a dozen other states.
This absurd projection map from Bernie supporters unwittingly shows why he cant win:...................

(1,968 posts)No, he's gonna get skunked worse than that in PA.
And New York, just because Bernie was born in Brooklyn, is not going to abandon its Senator.
We don't even have to discuss the morass of dark fantasy that is California.

(879 posts)be abandoning it's Senator, but I'm going to assume that saying you're going to take down Wall Street won't go over well on Wall Street.

(1,968 posts)I get a slight case of indigestion. But I'm intolerant of bad math.
Sure, a vastly diverse state with tons of PoC is going to go Sanders. I can see it now.
California here we come!

Only way to get to 2,382. Irony or hypocrisy? You be the judge!

(50,562 posts)It requires him to take New York, North Carolina, Illinois and California - ALL states with heavy black populations, and Sanders doesn't poll well among blacks. Not sure how he polls among Asians, but he doesn't poll well with other minority groups and without Asian support he probably isn't going to get Washington.

As per the article, Vermont has 16 delegates not 26 as depicted on the map.

(9,070 posts)On CNN today (March 6) they were saying Hillary has a bigger lead than Obama ever had in 2008.
Yesterday, Hillary extended her lead and she is above the target for a win, while Bernie is behind.
What's interesting is that there is no reason for "hope or change". Hillary has almost all the political endorsements, major newspaper endorsements, union endorsements. She has more money, a stronger organization, and young people are all down here with me for the next few weeks (spring break in Florida ).
At this point, it's good for Hillary to have some opposition so that she gets on TV and the voters register, and people have some excitement. It's also good to have someone to practice debating. In that sense, Bernie makes a good sparing partner so I hope he stays in for entertainment.
If Hillary becomes the first woman President, I predict DWS will go down historically as orchestrating a perfect win by running a primary with the right amount of competition: not too much but just right to GOTV.

(145,554 posts)If we add a couple hundred delegates to Vermont, Sanders would be closer. Sanders is down 11% in California and so it is very realistic for him to win by 37.5%
