This is too funny: Dear Fellow Bernie Supporters: Stop Embarrassing Us

Dear Fellow Bernie Supporters: Stop Embarrassing Us
When Senator Bernie Sanders entered the presidential race with his crazy hair and hardcore hate for Wall Street, income inequality, student loan debt and the military industrial complex, I fell in love. I felt the Bern so much that I immediately spent a bunch of money on Bernie gear and declared he was my guy. I even considered getting a Bernie tattoo, seriously (my editor is shaking his head as he reads that, I guarantee it). I imagine it is the same feeling that many people felt when an unknown senator from Chicago put his hat in for the White House in 2007. Sanders, like Obama, is the “underdog” and I love me a good underdog story. I am still a HUGE Bernie fan, but there’s a downside: some of my fellow Sanders supporters are really pissing me off.

Some of you believe that the only way to show your support for Senator Sanders is to go on social networking sites and shit all over Hillary Clinton. You have decided that she is an “evil corporate shill” who isn’t progressive enough for you. You don’t think she’s a “real” liberal because she is a moderate. You have demonized her because she made money speaking to Wall Street. You have called her names because she stayed with her husband after he cheated on her. Apparently sticking with her marriage “in good times and bad” and taking her commitment seriously, even when Bill didn’t, means she isn’t a “real” feminist. All of this nonsense is embarrassing.

Sound familiar? Much more here:

I've always liked him. A lot of his supporters though, not so much. I know some of them have never been Democrats but this over the top Bernie or nothing shit doesn't help him or his cause at all.

I don't know what they think will happen but yelling at me that I'm a fucking useful idiot because I've decided to back a corporate shill who doesn't know anything about anything and will probably get indicted any day now (Fitzmas pt. 2) sure as shit doesn't make me go "Hmmm' you may have something there, maybe I'll give good old Bernie a second look".

His campaign at the moment is specifically designed to tear down Hillary Clinton and the Democratic party. He may not have originally meant it that way - and I, like many others, welcomed an opportunity for him to move the narrative in the campaign to the left.

Instead, what I see is an angry "oppo army" as I call them doing everything they can to demonize Hillary, to fixate on anything she's done in her entire life as evil, to loudly proclaim that they'll never vote for her - and Bernie Sanders himself doing nothing to stop it.

He's trying to break the Democratic Party and he's doing it on purpose. I can hardly even stand to look at him anymore.

I had heard about it for years, and I see that disdain starting to slip out because of stress.

Having worked in progressive orgs for years, I am still disheartened about the way that so many are just angry, angry people to deal with.

...I've lost every bit of respect I ever had for Bernie Sanders, precisely because he does nothing to stop the rabid tone & conduct of some of his supporters.

In the beginning I referred to him as a great man whom I wouldn't criticize while I advocated for Hillay po ry. Today I refer to him as "Back Bench Bernie!". If, by some miracle he succeeds in his quest to become the Goldwater/McGovern/Mondale of 2016, I would vote for him. I'm at a point now though where it would be with held nose.

Since this post violates the recent " BernieUnderground " litmus test of blind and unquestioning loyalty to the non Democrat seeking the Democratic nomination, I expect the coming alert!

PEACE!

probably because I've never lived in VT but I see a lot of it travelling to visit family so I'm not really surprised to see him acting like a politician. He's always been really good at pretending that he's different but really he can be a brutal one if he wants to be.

I've always hoped that he's ignoring the Berniebros in the hope that they go away but as time goes on I think he sees them as useful. I think they're hurting him more than they're helping and can't see their usefulness personally.
