Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumIs it just me, or are the bernie folks really nasty today.
Man, I thought I swore a lot, and everything they write is just horrible. I'm thinking that they realize that Bernie didn't do that well with Rachel last night. I've been listening to her show via the podcast, and haven't made all the way through Bernie yet, and I have to say, so far he was no where near as good as Hillary. When the east coast primaries come, it's going to be unbearable around here.

(1,788 posts)I live overseas, so I'm always behind. This morning I got up and was looking here. There was all this crap about Hillary that has be on here all the time. I turned to my husband and said I thought Bernie probably didn't do well on Rachel. Damn I'm good, because I was right. They really only seem to know how to insult everyone around them...very childish

(1,788 posts)It was bad, but not this bad. I was undecided, and couldn't vote-my state was a caucus state and we were overseas-so I had no skin in the game. I was getting sick of it then. Some of these people are a bit zealot. I thought Obama was the messiah...boy was I wrong.

(1,968 posts)'08 was bad--at the time, I was an Obama leaner, but wouldn't've blinked if Clinton had gotten the nomination.
This is at least twice as bad. Possibly because the candidate is performing just strongly enough to be a competitor, but not strongly enough to be a serious competitor. He's only going to attract the most strident--and least realistic--people in terms of ardent supporters.

(27,830 posts)Bernie looked terrible last night. When he was attempting to answer the abortion question, he railed about Trump and Cruz being on the crazy train, and he kept shouting in a creepy way, 'WOMEN ARE PUNISHED? WOMEN ARE PUNISHED?", before brushing it off women's issues in favor of his spiel. In contrast, Hillary was at her absolute best, calm, determined, completely on point. She did not shift it to another issue.
The narrative today is Trump vs. Hillary. After all the other crap Trump has pulled, Tweety, of all people, did him in last night. He may win the nomination, but he's over. No woman who is the least big left of sanity will forget what Donald Trump said about punishing women, whether or not he tried to pull it back. Damage done, game over. Even GOP pundits were groaning at his poll numbers with women.
Sanders was outmatched by Rachel Maddow and outplayed by Hillary in the response to Trump. He seemed angry last night. He shouted during the entire interview. His face was bright red. That he didn't want to be there was blindingly obvious (and it wasn't even an in-person interview).
In sharp contrast to both of the shouting men, Hillary allowed herself to be tracked down - in person - and gave Rachel a lot of extra time, combined with an extremely mannered response.
Note to Bernie: women's issues are economic issues. Give us a raise from .72 on the dollar to the whole dollar and watch the income gap narrow significantly.

(23,741 posts)Google "Paid Political Responders". They have a job to do to vilify the front runner, in this case HRC and to drive wedges between the 2 camps. I think that explains to some degree the posters who post with the multi paragraph responses. The have scripts all ready to respond to any positive thread about Hillary. In this case it would be a GOP effort to drag HRC down because they don't want to go up against her in the general election.

(41 posts)I woke up to some very nasty posts. Threats to leave the corrupt DNC over the stupid ballots in DC. I'm pretty sure they believe Bernie really isn't going to be on the ballot, and all their unconfirmed suspicions are now true. I know one bernie fan, she unfriended 3 people for putting down her meme declaring "BE WARNED DNC: We now have enough support to make our own party."
In the conversation I could see its becoming an 'Us or the Other' kind of deal. Kind of like the republicans, they aren't seeking truth, they are seeking things which confirm what they believe is the truth. Having a single actual legit thing to be upset about. Its like throwing gasoline onto a bonfire.
I've seen the same in my facebook. Lots of leaving the Democratic Party talk, but the people talking on my page are Independants that registered this cycle.
all american girl
(1,788 posts)My husband's grandfather told me that if you want to make changes happen you have to be part of a party to make those changes. I registered as a dem after that. The man was right...and oh, he was a republican that was big in northwest Iowa politics. Yeah, my husband isn't pure enough to be part of the bernie fan club. When I married him he was a republican. You have to stick with a party, through the highs and lows.
GvilleDem
(41 posts)I didn't really like the democratic party because they never stood up for anything when the going got tough. Ironically that makes me the bluest democrat there ever could be this cycle, and I don't plan on going back to the green party any time soon.

(2,348 posts)The treatment of Rachel Maddow has bordered on the absurd. She is clearly one of the few people on mainstream cable news who is unabashedly liberal, and she is being trashed as a corporate shill because she has the audacity to treat both candidates with the same level of respect. The question she asked Bernie about raising money for down-ticket Dems wasn't complicated. There was no other acceptable answer besides, "yes".
Likewise, criticizing her for pointing out the severe 'truth massaging' Devine did regarding their effort in the South isn't evidence the she's trying to torpedo Bernie's campaign. It's another episode that wouldn't have happened if the campaign had given the right answer the first time.
For as relentlessly as Hillary gets pounced on for things she and her campaign say, of which many of the complaints were completely justified, Bernie's supporters shouldn't cry foul when his mistakes are called mistakes.
LisaM
(27,830 posts)It never ends. They've run out of new material about Bernie - and we're seeing that it was thin to begin with - so it's either absolutely incessant attacks on Hillary, cries of voter fraud aimed at the DNC, and now bleating about Bernie not being on the DC ballot when it's clearly an administrative oversight that will be fixed. There was one a few minutes ago saying that the person had donated to Bernie and thanking Hillary for inspiring him to do so. How old are these people, 12?

They've convinced themselves that Hillary is so horrible that she's responsible for Bernie's lack of appeal to the majority of Democrats. It's probably going to get worse until Hillary has the delegates needed for the nomination. Then they either support the candidate or go elsewhere.

(1,183 posts)The issue turns on delegates.
What Sanders people say here does not matter; it is just empty words.
What matters are votes in the primaries and the delegates won in those primaries.
I am not a fan; and, this is not a football game.
I will vote for the Democratic nominee; whether it be Clinton or Sanders.
