Sanders campaign talks up contested convention, despite long odds

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/04/06/sanders-campaign-talks-up-contested-convention-despite-long-odds.html

Just a few weeks ago, only the Republicans were talking seriously about the possibility of a contested presidential convention. Now, Bernie Sanders’ campaign is ratcheting up predictions that Democrats, too, could have an open convention in July.

The odds remain stacked against the Vermont senator, no matter what his campaign says. And Hillary Clinton’s campaign is aggressively batting down talk of a Philadelphia free-for-all this summer.

But the Democratic underdog’s recent winning streak – bolstered Tuesday by a decisive victory in the Wisconsin primary – has dashed for now Clinton’s hopes of swiftly sewing up the nomination and pivoting to the general election, certainly not while the springtime cherry blossoms are still on the trees in Washington. The Sanders camp’s bold predictions speak to their hope that they can now drag out the race until July by blunting the front-runner’s pledged delegate gains.

“It will be an open convention, likely with neither candidate having a majority of pledged delegates," Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver told CNN on Tuesday.

Those predictions were met with a round of reality checks by team Clinton.

Campaign manager Robby Mook blasted out a fundraising memo Tuesday night, as Sanders was rolling to victory in Wisconsin, saying Clinton’s delegate lead “is nearly insurmountable.”

Can You believe this?? My hubby was watching world news and told about this .tonight.....

campaign people without a constant influx of cash. The sooner Sanders drops out, the sooner this guy is looking for a job.

never been so proud of Democrats and Hillary. One of the best days of my life was being able to attend the final day with thousands of Democrats.

Bernie and his bros want chaos and hate vs unity.

I met Bill after a speech he gave on the Court House steps in Jersey City. It was electrifying! I was volunteering and he came to thank us. I met Hillary at the Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack. I was a guest at a swanky fundraiser during her first run for POTUS. She was wonderful. Warm and personable.
I have also met Donald Trump! I sat at the table next to him, Ivana and their son at the Plaza Palm Court at Sunday brunch. He was actually kind of nice and we all chatted for most of the meal. He and Ivana were in the middle of their divorce and she and I were wearing the same blazer (I bought mine at Loehmanns on sale). However, he ruined my neighborhood with his stupid Trump Tower so...Bad Donald!

I still remember that jacket. It was a tweed riding jacket with tiny Swarovski crystal sprinkled here and there. I'm sure she bought it from the designer. I bought mine from the designed warehouse! But she was so nice about it. Even their son was very smart and polite. I think Trump has just gone completely nuts since then. It's probably what happens when your garden variety egomaniac get old....they just keep going until they go over the top to the other side of crazy!

Must have been something about that jacket you liked to remember it

On Trump they say he was a Dem most of his life, strange this has been a crazy election surely hope it doesn't turn out like Bush's election where he stole it..like he might be working for the tea party from day one........and Bernie is surely no Dem

what they are doing! We have had 8 years of an extremely intelligent and competent POTUS. I don't think we can survive any of the nutty egomaniacs-without-a-plan-in-their-heads like Bernie & Donald!

This has been a 2 person race from the start and no 3rd party has been taking delegates. Unless O'Malley tries to mount a comeback, someone is going to end up with a majority of the pledged delegates.

yet he wants the support of Super Delegated and he want to rearrange the convention.

I don't know why so many so called Democrats support him. I don't know why this site, promoting Democrats and very much against third party or whatever, even allows this support
