Venezuela New Program for Disabled People
Caracas, Mar 6 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela is developing a new educational program called "Todas y todos a la escuela" (Every body to school) for children and youth with disabilities to join the education system, the Ministry of Education informed on Tuesday.
The inclusion of people with disabilities in education, sports, culture and the economy is a major achievement of the Venezuelan government, assisted by the Individuals with Disabilities Act, enacted in December 2006 by the National Assembly, said Minister of Education in a press release.
However, there are still children, youth and adults with special needs that are not within the education system, and therefore the ministry has set a policy to ensure access to education, building classrooms for special education that could make room for all, the note said.
According to the information, a multidisciplinary team of the "Todas y todos a la escula" program is working to transform special education in the country.
