Colombia least reputable country in Latin America

Colombia least reputable country in Latin America

Colombia has the worst reputation of Latin American countries, a poll among thousands of consumers in the world’s eight largest economies showed last week. According to the 2013 country index of the Reputation Institute, Colombia is the sixth least reputable country of 50 that were asked about in a poll among 27,000 consumers in G8 members countries.

The only countries with a worse reputation than Colombia were Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Nigeria and Russia.
While still ranked as having a poor reputation, Colombia did slightly improve its reputation since 2009 when the country received 32.5 out of 100. This year, the Latin American country received 37.8, exactly the same as China.

The reputation Institute gave Colombia little chance of improving its reputation on a short term because of the country’s relatively low competitiveness index, which dims a country’s opportunity to overcome poor perception by improving its branding abroad.

The countries with the best reputation among G8 consumers are Canada, Sweden and Switzerland. The United States was ranked 22nd.
