Huge power cut blacks out much of Venezuela
A massive power cut plunged the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, and other cities into darkness on Monday night.
State TV confirmed the blackout, but did not offer any explanation.
President Nicolas Maduro tweeted that the cut had been triggered in the same place as a major outage in September, and suggested that "sabotage" was responsible.
Power cuts are common in Venezuela, especially in the inland states, but rarely affect the capital.

(2,035 posts)Oh wait, he already did. Man, that was fast. No formal investigation has been undertaken yet, even after the entire Guri complex was militarized after the last blackout, making much more unlikely for there to be another one. Kinda irresponsible to jump to conclusions so quickly, huh? Not an attitude you'd expect from a president of an entire country.

(770 posts)The government just emptied appliance stores. Some are being stored by the happy owners. Some are being sold in Colombia. And the majority is being plugged into a network that's already stressed by high demand and low capacity.
