Honduran court alleges ‘misappropriation of public funds’ at Hondutel
10 Apr 2014

Honduras’ Superior Court of Auditors (El Tribunal Superior de Cuentas, or TSC) has reportedly confirmed a ‘misappropriation of public funds’ amounting to HNL75 million (3.91 million) at state-owned telco Hondutel, local newspaper El Heraldo reports. According to the article, the authority completed an investigation into collected revenues from international traffic for the period between June 2011 to December 2012, with report No.001-2014-DASII-HONDUTEL-B. The TSC concluded that ‘there is evidence of criminal responsibility’ and if the prosecutor does not file legal proceedings against the responsible executives, it plans to formulate the charges itself.
