Indigenous journalist found dead in Medellin

A Colombian documentary filmmaker and indigenous leader was found dead in in Medellin, newspaper El Espectador reported Friday.

According to The Foundation for Press Freedom (FLIP), 25-year-old Yamid Bailarín Suescún was working on a documentary about human rights in Urabá, in the western department of Antioquia.

On May 28 Caracol Radio reported that Suescún, who was the leader of a township in the municipality of Mutatá, also in Antioquia, was murdered.

The victim was reportedly killed with a firearm and found dead in a basement in western Medellin, Caracol reported.
