Caracas Mayor Part of US Coup Plot

Caracas Mayor Part of US Coup Plot
February 22nd, 2015
by Stephen Lendman

Washington spent 16 years unsuccessfully trying to topple Venezuela's model democracy.

On February 19, London's Guardian published an edited Venezuela Solidarity Campaign statement on its coup plot signed by 70 distinguished figures - including John Pilger and George Galloway.

The unedited version says:

"We the undersigned note with grave concern the announcement of the discovery of a plot to overthrow President Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela in a coup on Thursday February 12."

"Government officials have said the plans included violent attacks on the presidential palace and other government buildings."

~ snip ~

US post-WW II history alone reflects dozens of successful and failed coup attempts, political assassinations, and wars of aggression to topple independent foreign governments.

Psaki's Big Lies consistently ignore clear US rogue state history - including what's ongoing now in Venezuela, Ukraine, the Middle East and elsewhere.

No nation in world history has a more blood-drenched record. US policies threaten world peace.

Obama administration neocons stop at nothing to achieve their imperial objectives - including replacing Venezuelan democracy with fascist rule.

TeleSUR said Caracas Mayor Antonio Ledezma (aka "the vampire&quot was arrested for plotting with Washington against President Nicolas Maduro.

Venezuela authorities charged him with sedition and conspiracy involvement in the foiled plot revealed days earlier.

He co-wrote a so-called "transition (coup) plan" with Washington favorites/fascist figures Leopoldo Lopez and Maria Corina Machado.

Constitutional lawyer Jesus Silva called it "a putschist act of conspiracy that is unfortunately to the liking of thousands of opposition militants who have been indoctrinated to attack democracy."

According to TeleSUR, "young opposition activist" Lorent Saleh involved in organizing violent street protests named Ledezma last August as a coup plotter.

What we have is a pattern of Venezuelan governments blaming America for every thing that goes wrong. Right now the problem is that they have created an economic disaster and are now desperately trying to deflect blame. It is not going to work - the VZ people are too smart and Maduro too inept.

Not with the oil, the mines, nothing ....... and yet our corporations run by their oligarchs hire mercenaries to kill little children, fund right-wing freaks that try to overthrow gov'ts, on and on. No compassion whatsoever for these people as human beings just trying to hang on to their own resources, their land and their sovereignty.

I believe in karma, this will all come back to us somehow.

Maybe not from Venezuela but there are others in this world we've done damage to.

Oh, that's right. There ain't none.

Maduro is just following the authoritarian tendencies of his Cuban overlords while blaming the US for making him cart his political opponents off to the calabozo.

I doubt he'll last a year. And good riddance when he goes.

I mean, Maduro's accusations are pretty big, and he and his administration always pin the blame on the US for being behind every supposed coup attempt and economic downturn. Hell, he even accused Joe Biden directly of being behind the last one, and Maduro had just shaken hands with a big smile with Biden himself only a month before. Does the Nincompoop honestly believe the majority of the people believe his BS? His popularity is below 20% now, which indicates only the ideologically blind useful idiots are the ones who keep supporting him. And despite all this, Cuba is happily bringing in Nancy Pelosi to meet with their VP and allowing Conan O'Brien to record his show there. The only thing this indicates is that even the Castros themselves don't give a crap about Maduro's claims. Honestly, I think they're all so embarrassed by Maduro that they kinda don't really wanna associate themselves with him that much anymore, hence why they want to reestablish trade and political relations with the big bad US, and don't trust one bit in how Nicolas is handling things.

Pablo Iglesias has condemned Monday, openly and "unqualified" arrest mayor of Caracas, Antonio Ledezma opposition charges of conspiracy by the government of Nicolas Maduro. The Secretary General can, it takes months avoiding pronouncements on Venezuela rejected imprisonment in an interview on Tele 5. "There is no nuance. I do not like to stop for a mayor. Another thing is that then prove that this man has committed a crime, but neither the detention order or stoppage of public office are something that a priori I like it. I dislike "said Iglesias when asked about it.
