Mexico Mining Groups Says 3 Kidnapped Miners Were Slain

Mexico Mining Groups Says 3 Kidnapped Miners Were Slain
MEXICO CITY — Mar 19, 2015, 8:10 PM ET
By MARK STEVENSON Associated Press

A Mexican mining industry group says three miners were killed earlier this month in the southern state of Guerrero.

The three employees of the Los Filos gold mine in the mountains of Guerrero had been reported kidnapped.

The Mexican Mining Chamber said Thursday that the killings "disturb the healthy development of the mining industry in Guerrero."

An official in the Guerrero state government confirmed the bodies of the three miners were found dumped in a sparsely populated area about a week after they were abducted. The official was not authorized to be quoted by name.

The mine is operated by the Canadian mining company GoldCorp. The company has said the victims were employees but were not working or travelling to the mine when they were kidnapped.
