Caracas (AFP) - Embattled President Nicolas Maduro marks two years in power Sunday with Venezuela's deep pockets pinched hard by plummeting oil prices, Latin America's highest inflation and simmering anger on the streets.

Now 24 months on, annual inflation has soared to a whopping 68.5 percent. Shortages hit most consumer goods from food to diapers to shampoo.

And poverty -- one of the theoretical focal points of the "revolutionary" government -- has not been reduced: rather, it is up to 32 percent.
