Carromero says he didn't see a traffic sign to lower velocity and he went off an embankment.
Questions remain about why Oswaldo Paya, the dissident who died in the crash, was with two Europeans from right wing political parties who entered Cuba on tourist visas. My guess is that they were in Eastern Cuba to publicize the Cholera outbreak. The usual MO would be to feed the usual right wing news outlets with stories meant to prove that A. Cuba is unsafe for tourists to continue the usual economic war on the island and B. to say they are incompetent, dishonest in the area of public health, a source of pride for Cuba. The politicians were probably funded by USAID or similar European sources.

Poor fella.
We can be sure the Miami lunatics will never admit they've made another stupid mistake.
More pathetic "journalism" from Andrea Mitchell. Will she correct it? Of course not.
Maybe Carromero will be good enough to explain at some point what was the real purpose of his visit was which brought him to his car wreck in the first place.

(39,313 posts)you were another bandwagon jumper on this.
And this guy probably should go to jail for reckless driving and the death of two Cubans. What an idiot
in my opinion, saying that because I've been exposed to crazy drivers in that area. Paya would have
been better off with a granny driver who had some sense of their mortality as this 27 yr old didn't.
In the end the right wingers and Paya's daughter helped him out. They confused the communcations so
much on this case that 90% of the people paying attention think the Cuban government did kill Paya. So
to avoid more ruckus they'll let him leave. Wonder if they tested his blood alcohaul levels, he's lucky if
they didn't.
There are reasons to criticize these situations when they're unfolding, regarding how they unfold.

(39,313 posts)because the road was under construction and the asphalt gave way to dirt but he didn't see the sign to slow down.
He'll probably be gone back to Spain soon where he will be told what to say.

(39,313 posts)for driving too fast -- the right wing blogs are not making an effort to retract.
Not a peep out of Andrea Mitchell either!
Irony of irony that a right winger killed this dissident, if the Cuban government was truy
diabolical they couldn't have done a better job except that this guy isn't a target, he is
sadly between La Loba and young Cubans that aren't interested in him as a leader.
I hope some explanation appears about why Paya ended up with two right wingers.
Watch this story disappear like Houdini!

(3,894 posts)everyone should wait for facts rather than embrace the media spin Andrea Mitchell and others were putting on this based on a daughter's claims that she had no evidence for.
