GOVERNMENT buildings were set ablaze and man was killed in a weekend of violence in Haiti following the release of legislative election results.

Street demonstrations and fights between political factions hit several towns in northern and southern Haiti, where angry partisans insisted that the results did not reflect voters’ intentions.

An 18-year-old protester was shot dead when two factions clashed in the town of Terrier Rouge.

Demonstrators burned an electoral office, set tyre barricades aflame and smashed shop windows.
