Evo Morales Says US Social Network Experts Plotted in Bolivia
La Paz, Apr 7 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian President Evo Morales said today that the US government sent social network experts to Bolivia to conspire against the constitutional referendum held in February.
Bolivians voted on February 21 to approve or reject a constitutional amendment in order to allow President Evo Morales and Vice President Alvaro Garcia Linera to run for another term in office in 2019.
During a ceremony to deliver a social facility in Santa Cruz, Morales said that Washington sent a group of specialists of South American origin to plot against the referendum through the social networks. We found out that they arrived in the country by land to avoid the security set at the airport, Morales added.
We trusted and they defeated us in the referendum, but we know that the Bolivian right-wing receives instructions from the United States, the president said. Morales stressed that the process of change initiated in 2006 is unstoppable, so we will continue with the democratic and cultural revolution. We are free both economically and politically, and everyone knows that, so we have the right to be anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist, he pointed out.

(15,748 posts)The Bolivian voters didn't want to eliminate presidential term limits; they've seen what that has led to in Venezuela.

(14,732 posts)be able to come up with something at least slightly more original than 'because the Yanquis did it'. Chavez used it, Maduro loves it, Correa plays it like a violin and now Evo is dragging it out because he couldn't con the Boliivians into making him Presidente for Life. I don't know- maybe blame the Illuminati or The Bilderberg Group or the NWO.

(2,650 posts)The documentary Our Brand Is Crisis pretty much lays out what Evo Morales describes. Which is using social media and other means to steal elections...
Cascadiance posted about a documentary that just knocked my socks off. We read about these things, we document them, we know it happens, but this documentary provides an inside look of the process.
In 2002, among the many creepy roles of James Carville was his work as strategist at Greenberg Carville Shrum (GCS), when the political consultancy firm he had helped to found went to work to help Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada (nicknamed Goni) win the hotly contested presidency of Bolivia. Although they thought the man to beat was Manfred Reyes Villa, the mayor of Cochabamba, certainly the one who most worried Washington was the indigenous leader, Evo Morales...

More recently Our Brand Is Crisis got the Hollywood treatment. It was turned into mind-addling comedy with Sandra Bullock and Billy Bob Thornton.

(2,035 posts)Either he had terrible foresight and didn't do what he needed, or these social network "experts" and the impact they had on convincing the Bolivian people to vote against Evo's reelection is utter bullshit. Amazing how leftist ideologues literally blame the US for every cat stuck up a tree. You should accept reality for a change.

Hollywood doesn't do reality any favors, does it? It continues the myths, the lies, the ignorance, the culture based upon lies. There is so little to learn from most films, unfortunately. A world of difference exists between the documentary and the movie. Nothing at all in common.
It's good to see this information, and tremendous knowing how closely real progressives here stay aware, and research, and care about what our government has been doing in our names.
