http://money.cnn.com/2016/05/14/news/economy/cristina-fernandez-de-kirchner-charged/index.htmlArgentina's former president, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, was indicted Friday for allegedly meddling with the sale of dollars by the nation's central bank.
If the claim is true that Kirchner's team fixed the contracts, their aim was to make Argentina's finances look better than they actually were ahead of an election that Kirchner's party lost.
Kirchner's former finance minister, Axel Kicillof, and the ex-central bank chief, Alejandro Vanoli, were also indicted, along with 15 other officials.

The judge, in a 147-page ruling, alleged that Kirchner and others colluded to have the central bank sell up to $17 billion in futures contracts at 10.65 pesos to the dollar. At the time, global futures markets valued the peso at 14 to 15 pesos per dollar.

(5,902 posts)Nice work if you can get it, right?
The fact is that the Central Bank cannot, by law, sell currency futures abroad. This lame attempt to shift the blame for his own (very big) mistake has already backfired on him legally and politically.
Were you not so obsessed with your left/right paradigm, you'd see how absurd this is - to say nothing of what Macri and most of his supporters think of the good people of Colombia, which I'm sure you and your fiend Bacchus there wouldn't appreciate at all.

That's just as it should be.

It will take time but there WILL be a butt-kicking contest, and the fascists will have to slink off again.
Our corporate media gets smellier every day, doesn't it?

(5,902 posts)And then have Trump's Fed Chairman raise rates sharply when Trump himself (and all his family and friends) loaded up on interest rate futures just prior to taking office.
It's so twisted, it's actually downright stupid because of the political blowback it creates.
I'm sure the Donald would tell his friend Macri the same thing.
