Chilean Supreme Court Revokes Parole Granted to Assassin
Santiago de Chile, Oct 20 (Prensa Latina) Radical standpoints expressed by human rights organizations in Chile against former general Raul Iturriaga Neumann´s parole, led today the Supreme Court to revoke the ruling.
The Supreme Court decided to overrule the parole granted to Iturriaga, former Assistant Director of the National Intelligence Direction (DINA), secret police of dictator Augusto Pinochet.
Iturriaga Neumann is convicted of the murder of General Carlos Prats, army chief during the management of Salvador Allende, and his wife Sofia Cuthbert, committed in Buenos Aires in 1974 with the help of CIA.
There are so many sentences pending for Iturriaga that he should be imprisoned until 2037, as the sentence ruled for the disappearance of member of the Revolutionary Leftist Movement (MIR) Francisco Javier Alejandro Rozas.
Rozas, like 12 other people, was abducted and killed within the so-called Operation Condor, coordinated amid the dictatorships of South America, with the support of the United States.
