New details have emerged in the alleged murder of an American teenager in Paraguay. Once ruled a suicide, prosecutors are now treating the case as a rape and murder, based on phone logs, crime scene photos, and interviews with suspects.
Sixteen-year-old Alex Villamayor died more than two and a half years ago, during a visit to a friend's family ranch in Encarnacion, Paraguay. The last time he spoke to his father, former Paraguayan congressman Luis Villamayor, he called to report that he and his friends were drinking mushroom tea on the property. Horrendous crime. What a terrible shame.
I hope his family is not going to be able to get the FBI involved in all crimes against US Americans outside the country.
That's an extension of US power going far beyond its legitimate boundaries which could provoke incredible abuse no one needs or wants.
They are hoping to ride the Hump train to get revenge for this outrageous crime. They should leave it to the existing law as it stands. Paraguay has been subservient to the US for such a long time, as it is. They will be fully cooperative.
What happened to Alex Villamayor shouldn't happen to anyone, anywhere.
May he rest in peace.
