Mexico Mayors Murdered in the last 5 Years add up 61
Mexico, Dec 29 (Prensa Latina) with the assassination of the mayor of Petatlán, state of Guerrero, Arturo Gómez, 61 Mexican mayors have been assassinated so far in the administration of President Enrique Peña Nieto.
This is confirmed by statistics from the National Association of Mayors, after Gómez, from the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), received a bullet in his head and another in the thorax while dining in a restaurant in the municipal center.
The day before another PRD politician and deputy of the state congress of Jalisco, Saúl Galindo, was also shot dead.

During the administration of President Felipe Calderón, 49 of these officials were murdered; of which 16 were former Mayors, 29 were in office and four had just been elected.

MEXICO CITY — A masked gunman has assassinated the mayor of a town in the southern Mexico state of Guerrero.
The state police office identifies the victim as Arturo Gomez Perez, the mayor of Petatlan.
The office said Friday that the lone gunman hit Gomez Perez with three bullets as he ate at a restaurant in Petatlan.
Guerrero was one of the most violent states in Mexico in the first 11 months of 2017, with a homicide rate of 58.6 per 100,000 people.
