Residents of Margarita state Nueva Esparta, among men, women and children sacked Thursday a boat full of sardines, throwing themselves with tobos into the sea, without waiting for the marine vehicle to anchor.

The boatmen did not oppose the aggressiveness of the inhabitants. User reports on twitter say that in the town there are hungry and desperate people.

The exacerbation of the scarcity of food and the unstoppable acceleration of inflation have unleashed looting since the beginning of the Christmas season, with a balance so far of seven people dead.

The disturbances were ignited by the scarcity of pork, typical of the Venezuelan Christmas dish, despite the fact that President Nicolás Maduro had promised subsidized meat to alleviate the shortage in December.
