No gas in Venezuela as oil infrastructure collapses into abyss.

TOTAL COLLAPSE! Hundreds of drivers slept in their cars to put gas in Táchira
DolarToday / Apr 20, 2018 @ 3:00 p.m.

"Here I am from Wednesday, in the morning, in line. I'm like number 20, to see if the gandola arrives today-Thursday. There is nothing safe, said Juan Perez, yesterday, while his late colleagues validated what was said, published La Nación.

The phrase of Juan Pérez can be that of Pedro, Carlos, José, María, Mauricio ... that of any Tachiren driver who since Monday has tried to fuel this Colombian-Venezuelan border state.

Since last week, hundreds of drivers have had to queue, as long as the year 2002, to supply gasoline, and since Monday the problem has worsened.

From Tuesday, lines were made at the service stations, whether they were open or closed, to try to fill the tanks of hundreds of cars throughout the Táchira state, not just in San Cristóbal.

The drivers who have stocked in the open stations have had to get up early, around 4 am, and stay there until 7 or 8 hours, while what they have decided to wait in the so-called closed pumps have had to wait for more hours and the Most had to sleep there, from Wednesday to Thursday.

Backstory: Chavistas have held political sway over Venezuela since 1999, when Hugo Chavez was elected on a populist platform. In 2002, the professional oil workers of PdVSA went on strike for better wages and benefits. Chavez FIRED nearly all of them (18,000+) and replaced them with party loyalists. (So much for being pro-worker!)

These days, PdVSA is run from the top by the Chavista military, and entire convoys of tanker trucks of gas are taken to the Colombia border to be sold at fire-sale prices to Colombian criminal gangs. (A liter of gasoline in Venezuela costs the consumer less than $0.01 USD in the past) Since these tankers full of gasoline are being sold by the Chavista hierarchy to line their pockets, there is none for the Venezuela consumer. But, Maduro will blame everyone and anyone, EXCEPT the military who controls the flow of oil in Venezuela... since they are the ones keeping him in power.
