Government henchmen robbing peasant farmers in rural Venezuela

Farmers denounced that the GNB confiscated the money in cash

Several farmers in the Anzoátegui state reported that officials of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) confiscate their cash and food products.

They assure that the situation takes place in the alcabalas**, located at the entrance of Boca de Uchire and Los Arcos in the La Ponderosa neighborhood of Barcelona, the newspaper El Tiempo reported.

The producers indicated that with the money from their harvests they buy food in the market of Puerto La Cruz, where they do not give them an invoice that allows them to show the legality of the purchase.

"The national guards and the police are there to protect the people, not to steal it," said one farmer.

It isn't easy these days to be on the Chavista payroll. Maduro isn't as free spending with the money he can't loot from PdVSA anymore, and his arm-breakers and enforcers of Bolivarian hegemony (GNB, PNB) have to resort to new and inventive ways of shaking down the destitute people who had put their faith in Chavismo in the past.

**Alcabalas are military style checkpoints that infect every main and secondary road in Venezuela. It is at these checkpoints that Chavismos surly, uneducated but loyal henchmen do their bidding. If the first alcabala doesn't take all your money and anything of value, the second will. Naturally, Chavismo insists that these checkpoints are there for "security reasons"... which is a farce, because Venezuela has the highest rates of violent and non-violent crime in the world.
