Ortega declared marches as illegal and Police continues to repress in Nicaragua

The sociologist and also expollar, Elvira Cuadra, ensures that in Nicaragua "a state of emergency is being installed with this prohibition"

The regime of Daniel Ortega aims to silence the civic protest, through a police order that threatens to prosecute people and organizations that call for civic protest demonstrations, which are now declared "illegal."

"They will be responsible and will answer before the justice, the people and organisms that summon to these illegal displacements from which they have been promoted and it is tried to promote, criminal, destructive and criminal actions", indicates the Police in a press release diffused through the official media.

The ban came on the eve of a new civic protest march organized in Managua, under the slogan: "March of rebellion, we have no president."

Experts in Constitutional Law, human rights defenders and opposition activists reject the police threat, because it violates the Constitution and attributes to the Police faculties that do not correspond to it.

"It is a governmental act of criminalization of citizen protest. It wants to make a fundamental right a crime, "says the jurist and member of the Civic Alliance for Justice and Democracy, Azahálea Solís.
