21-02-19.-The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, heads a videoconference Thursday with the Superior General Staff of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) and commanders of the REDI ordered the closing of the border with Brazil. "As of 20:00 hours on Thursday, the land border with Brazil is totally and absolutely closed and until further notice," he explained.

He also said that he is evaluating a "total closure" of the border with Colombia in the face of what he denounced "provocations" of President Iván Duque and his "submission" to the United States.

"We have a FANB of high exemplary morals. This is a true Armed Force prepared to defend our territory," he said during a television broadcast.

Maduro called on Colombia's military to "raise its voice" against the alleged plans against Venezuela and blamed Duque for what might happen at the border this weekend. "I want to have that Simón Bolívar bridge moving, and the people making their lives in peace. But it's not for me anymore, on our part, I hope good sense, but you have to evaluate it."

"Ivan Duque called Trump and told him that the Colombian military refuses to attack our country," he revealed.

He also mentioned that "the legitimate government is governing and defending the people every day. Complying with the 1999 Constitution."

I am reminded of the neighbor my parents used to live by. He was middle age, single guy, never married, who had problems with his "bad neighbors". As a result he put up huge fences (taller than code allowed) so that he wouldn't have to interact with these horrible neighbors. Padlocks on the front and back gate, including the gate that closed off his driveway. He used to yell at us kids out of an upstairs window that if we didn't keep quiet (kids playing outside in the summer???) he would come down there and "thrash" us.

Poor guy. Surrounded by "bad neighbors" on all sides. And the only person we ever saw visiting this guy was a brother (equally odd) who usually left after 5 minutes of loud screaming.

Poor Maduro. Surrounded by "bad neighbors" (Guyana, which he claims half belongs to Venezuela; Brazil, and Colombia... and his vile Dutch neighbors on the islands in the Caribbean.) Only friends he has are Syria, Turkey, Iran, Russia, China, Cuba, North Korea....
