Lula Congratulates Fernandez on Electoral Results in Argentina

Brasilia, Aug 12 (Prensa Latina) Former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva congratulated Argentina''s presidential candidate Alberto Fernandez this Monday for the results obtained in Sunday''s primary elections.

'Congratulations to our friends @alferdez and @CFKArgentina for the awesome result in the Argentinian primaries. We must give hope to the people, bring better days and take care of those who need it. A big hug from your friend Lula,' the former leader posted on Twitter.

Fernandez, the leader of the Frente de Todos (Front for All), running alongside former president Cristina Fernandez (2007-2015) as vice presidential candidate, topped the electoral preferences in Argentina's primary elections, securing 47.66% the vote, according to official reports.

According to preliminary results of the Simultaneous and Mandatory Open Primaries (PASO), with ballots cast at 99.37 percent of polling stations counted, Fernandez obtained 11,428,000 votes; while President Mauricio Macri, of 'Together for Change', obtained 32.09%.
