RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) - Between 10 and 20 Brazilian police officers swept into a hospital in Rio de Janeiro and demanded doctors hand over a bullet that allegedly killed an 8-year-old girl during a police operation, a domestic magazine reported on Thursday.
The military police officers raided the Getulio Vargas hospital around dawn on Sept. 21, a Saturday, just hours after Agatha Felix was killed in the citys poor Alemao district. According to bystanders, Felix was shot during a police raid, when a police officer mistakenly shot her while aiming at a motorcyclist. She died later in hospital.
Veja reported that doctors refused to give the officers the bullet and now fear reprisals.
Rios military police said in a statement it was normal for officers to be at a hospital after a shooting. Nonetheless, it added that possible misconduct by officers in the unit involved was under investigation internally and as part of the broader civil police probe into the case.

Salt Lake Citys Civil Service Commission agrees with the police chiefs decision to demote the watch commander who was on duty when a Salt Lake City police officer arrested a University of Utah Hospital nurse in 2017, an incident that drew international attention.
Lt. James Tracy was demoted to the rank of officer in September 2017 after Police Chief Mike Brown determined Tracy made the completely unreasonable order that Detective Jeff Payne arrest nurse Alex Wubbels on July 26, for refusing to allow Payne to draw a patients blood. The encounter garnered widespread outrage after body camera footage was released by Wubbels attorney in August 2017.
Tracy had appealed the demotion, saying it amounted to excessive discipline.
The commission announced its decision Thursday upholding Browns decision to demote Tracy two steps to a police officer III position, attorney Edward Brass confirmed Friday.
Brass, who is representing Tracy, said they have not yet been given a written decision explaining the commissions findings.
"We are disappointed in the outcome," he said.

Detective Jeff Payne arrests nurse Alex Wubbels after she refuses to draw blood from an
unconscious patient.
Former Detective Jeff Payne isnt sorry for arresting Alex Wubbels and he plans to sue for $1.5 million
A Salt Lake City Police detective is in hot water for arresting a nurse when she refused to allow blood to be drawn from an unconscious patient.
According to University of Utah Hospital nurse Alex Wubbels, Salt Lake detective Jeff Payne used excessive force when he unlawfully arrested her for her reluctance at drawing blood from a man who was involved in a collision that killed a motorist fleeing police.
The Idaho State Journal reported that 43-year-old William Gray, a reserve police officer in Rigby, Idaho, was severely injured in the ordeal, which took place July 26 at about 2 p.m. Gray, who drives trucks in his spare time, was behind the wheel of a semi truck in northern Utah when a suspect fleeing Utah Highway Patrol officers crashed into him head-on.

A big difference in involved, beyond the violence, however, in the Brazil story when it's recognized the death squad cops also killed the girl and were trying to seize the evidence to destroy it.
