Cuba remembers 30 years of the Chernobyl children's medical program
Havana, Mar 30 (Prensa Latina) The 30th anniversary of the arrival in Cuba of the first Ukrainian children who received medical treatment on the island after a nuclear accident in Chernobyl, is one of the issues discussed today on social networks.
On Twitter users share photos of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, when on March 29, 1990 he received at the airport in Havana the first young people who arrived on the island to be treated as part of a humanitarian program that for 21 years provided care to 23,000 children.
According to the Dominio Cuba website, among the drugs used for the treatment of these patients is recombinant Interferon alpha2b, created at the Cuban Biotechnology Genetic Engineering Center and also used these days in several countries to reduce the effects of Covid-19.
Rodrigo Malmierca, Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, who in his social networks compared the attitude of three decades ago with the current response of Cuban health professionals who provide health services in nations affected by the new coronavirus, always expressed their solidarity.
