ASUNCION, Paraguay - A new documentary in Paraguay looks at a deadly dispute over land that gave opponents of President Fernando Lugo the ammunition they needed to remove him from office.
At the film's premier Tuesday night, a woman who lost two siblings to police bullets in the fight urged the crowd not to forget the tragedy.
The film comes ahead of a judge's decision next month whether to try 14 peasants for the deaths of six police officers in the dispute. Eleven farmers also were killed by automatic weapons fire, but their deaths have not been investigated.
Prosecutors asked for tough charges even though the probe found that all the deaths were from heavier weapons of the kind police carried and that no evidence links any of the defendants to the killings.
