US expels 2 Venezuelan diplomats

http://news.yahoo.com/us-expels-2-venezuelan-diplomats-153226681--politics.html

Share0Print......WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration has expelled two Venezuelan diplomats, further setting back U.S. efforts to repair relations with the Latin American country after Hugo Chavez's death.

The move is in retaliation for Venezuela's expulsion of two American military attaches after Chavez died last week.

U.S. officials say junior diplomats Orlando Jose Montanez Olivares and Victor Camacaro Mata were told to return home over the weekend and left the U.S. Sunday.

------------------
Beyond the diplomatic tit-for-tat, Venezuelan officials have accused the U.S. of being responsible for Chavez's cancer and sought to rally anti-U.S. sentiment ahead of an April election for a new leader.

legislators, they have plenty of evidence we tried to oust Chavez and company. Therefore our expulsion from Venezuela makes some sense, while ousting theirs from here is just petty retaliation, petty being the key perspective.

the victims being informed and without permission. IF cancer can be "given" in such a way, I wouldn't put it past us to have utilized such medical advancement for such a purpose.

And yes, it is too bad for the USA that our leaders are so petty and foolish. We should be able to handle some political immaturity from immature politicians in immature political systems without acting like children ourselves.

sorry, simply having someone make an accusation isn't grounds for proving or even believing.

No, but neither is denial or implying ludicrous-ness evidence of innocence. Point is that much of the horrors we've put upon other countries' communities are often not confessed to till decades later. There is no valid way to know today whether we infected him with cancer or not.

Too bad, it's just "do as I say, not as I do". It's only "grounds for proving or even believing" if the target is a popular Venezuelan leader satanized by the press. If that's the case, do not worry: accuse him of having billions, without being able to prove where's such money is, accuse him of being a dictactor, even though he won every election under the watch of international observers, accuse him of destroying Venezuelan economy, even though almost all economic indicators (including inflation) show the contrary, etc.

net worth can be estimated using assets people control. People who take money from the government through corrupt means don't report that on their tax returns.

Saying something stupid like the US gave him cancer just because his lackeys are embittered is no evidence at all.

8. Inflation was cut by more than half.

In the 5 years preceeding Chávez's government the average inflation was 57,6%.

In his government the average inflation was 21.8%.

So it's really not fair to try to blame him for that.

He needs a reason to show his dissatisfaction to Chávez. Since it's difficult to find real reasons, they have to come up with (less-than) half-truths.

The selective indignation toward Chávez is impressive.

You try to imply that he is the responsible for Venezuela having a high inflation rate, but the inflation was much higher before he assumed, and in fact, he cut it by half!
